Russia Restores Flight Safety Memorandum on Syria Air Operations

Russia Restores Flight Safety Memorandum with US on Syria Air Operations

by Stephen Lendman

According to Sputnik News, Russia restored the 2015 agreement, suspended after Trump’s April 7 aggression.

He lawlessly OK’d the terror-bombing of Syria’s Shayrat air base - on the phony pretext of Assad allegedly authorizing the April 4 Khan Sheikhoun CW attack he had nothing to do with.

Citing Izvestia, Sputnik News said Russia acted at the request of Secretary of State Tillerson during his April 11 and 12 Moscow visit, meeting with Sergey Lavrov and Vladimir Putin.

Citing a Foreign Ministry source, Izvestia said the air safety agreement was restored on April 13 - a round-the-clock communication channel between the militaries of both countries to prevent possible aerial clashes or other incidents.

Interviewed on Radio Sputnik, RUDN University Center for Strategic Research and Prognosis director Nikita Danyuk believes restoration of the air safety agreement most likely indicates “the US will no longer make efforts to infringe upon the Syrian state.”

“(M)aintaining” hostile relations with Moscow over Syria “risk(s) exacerbating (an already deplorable) situation.”

Both countries have opposing agendas. Russia is committed to combating the scourge of terrorism Washington supports.

Bilateral trust is virtually nonexistent. Danyuk’s optimism isn’t supported by reality on the ground. US and Turkish troops illegally occupy northern Syria, supporting anti-government terrorists.

At the same time, Russia wants confrontation with Washington avoided. It’s continues going all-out for diplomatic conflict resolution - despite five years of failure, nothing in prospect suggesting what’s been out-of-reach so far is achievable.

In mid-April, Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would communicate with Washington on Syria within the air safety framework only “on condition that (US) unpredictable actions aren’t repeated.”

Washington wants regime change. Trump’s rage for war makes future US belligerence likely - in Syria, throughout the region and elsewhere, possibly on the Korean peninsula.

US Aegis Ashore Anti-Missile System Violates INF Treaty

US Aegis Ashore Anti-Missile System Violates INF Treaty

by Stephen Lendman

On Saturday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry called Washington’s Eastern European deployment a flagrant INF violation, saying:

“The United States has deployed Aegis Ashore anti-missile systems at its base in Romania, and plans…another such system in Poland.”

“(They) incorporate vertical launch systems similar to Mk-41 universal systems that are capable of launching intermediate-range (Tomahawk) cruise missiles…”

For over two decades, Washington repeatedly breached INF mandates, continuing missile tests prohibited by the treaty. It’s boosting production and use of unmanned offensive vehicles, falling under its definition of ground-based cruise missiles.

“Notably, we have been pointing (out US) violations of the INF Treaty for 15 years. But there is no constructive reaction,” said Russia’s Foreign Ministry.

“While implementing its anti-missile plans, the United States must be guided…by the generally recognized principle of inadmissibility of strengthening its own security at the expense of other states.”

“Notably, Washington has repeatedly reiterated this principle in corresponding international formats” - falsely accusing Moscow of INF violations, ignoring its own.

Treaties it agrees to are for other countries to observe, not itself. In 2001, The Bush/Cheney administration irresponsibly withdrew from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty.

It pursued hostile development and deployment of its anti-missile system for offense, not defense. It “wrecked the pillars of the global strategic stability system,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry stressed.

Washington’s deployment of its missile-defense system “has adversely impacted the system of international security, dramatically complicated relations not only in the Euro-Atlantic but also in the Asia-Pacific region and turned into one of the most serious obstacles on the path of further gradual nuclear disarmament as it creates dangerous opportunities for the resumption of the nuclear arms race.”

“(A)n anti-missile umbrella may give rise to a calamitous illusion of invincibility and impunity and hence tempt hotheads in Washington into new dangerous unilateral steps on global and regional problems in bypassing of the United Nations Security Council and contrary to common sense, like…on April 7 when the United States delivered a missile strike…Syria.”

Washington “demonstrates no readiness for cooperation and reckoning with Russia’s concerns. (It) refused to even discuss its own guarantees that missile-defense systems that are being deployed in Europe are not aimed against Russia.”

Despite implementation of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, Washington remains unwilling to change policy on provocative deployment of missile defense systems.

Worldwide anti-missile deployments “are part of a very dangerous global project aimed at securing US overall overwhelming superiority to the prejudice of security interests of other states,” increasing instability instead of abating it, Russia’s Foreign Ministry stressed.

Further, Washington flagrantly breached the Treaty on Convention in Europe by expanding NATO east to Russia’s border, especially after pledging not to do it.

Treaties and other agreements America signs aren’t worth the paper they’re written on, given how it promises one thing and does another, time and again - proving the worthlessness of dealing with whatever regime is in power.

Washington wants Russia marginalized, weakened, destabilized, contained, isolated and controlled, its sovereign independence destroyed, the nation transformed into another US vassal state - its resources plundered, its people exploited, even if it risks nuclear war to achieve its objectives.

America and its rogue allies represent humanity’s greatest threat.

Trump's Op-Ed Big Lies

Trump’s Op-Ed Big Lies

by Stephen Lendman

All politicians lie! Believe nothing they say! Rare exceptions prove the rule! Trump is America’s Liar-in-Chief - a billionaire businessman, now dirty politician!

In a Washington Post op-ed, commemorating his first 100 days in office, he lied claiming he kept promises made to Americans.

Trump: “One hundred days ago, I took the oath of office and made a pledge: We are not merely going to transfer political power from one party to another, but instead are going to transfer that power from Washington, DC, and give it back to the people…I kept that promise - and more.”

Fact: False! He broke every positive pledge made, let hawkish generals, billionaires, Wall Street and right-wing extremists run things - serving wealth, power and privilege exclusively at the expense of ordinary people he promised to serve equitably.

A same-day article covers his deplorable first 100 days in detail, comparing it to FDR’s historic comparable period.

Trump: “(W)e are giving the people their country back…(T)his government is working for the citizens of our country and no one else.”

Fact: False! Dirty business as usual continues - so far, worse than under his predecessors.

Trump: “We have opened the White House doors to listen, engage and act. We’ve invited in labor leaders, factory owners, police officers, farmers, veterans and Democrats, Republicans and independents.”

Fact: Public Citizen president Robert Weissman explained “there has been a wholesale corporate takeover of the government. Corporate interests” drive policy on “everything.” An “ethical vacuum” exists, “megascandals” surely coming - all this in just 100 days.

Trump: “The change began with the termination of the Trans-Pacific Partnership - a 12-nation pact that would have shipped millions more jobs to other countries.”

Fact: Global Trade Watch director Lori Wallach blasted his trade agenda, saying it “could have come from any past pro-NAFTA (pro-TPP) administration.”

Trump: “(T)o bring back our jobs, we are going to pursue a complete renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).”

Fact: He reneged on abandoning NAFTA. Material leaked showing his new scheme is like the old one - favoring investors over consumers, ignoring offshoring jobs, maintaining NAFTA and TPP jobs-destroying rules.

Trump: “(W)e’ve undertaken the most far-reaching effort in history to remove job-killing regulations.”

Fact: His deregulation scheme aids maximum profit-making unrelated to jobs creation. It abandons consumer protections and ecosanity.

Trump: “…I’ve signed 29 pieces of legislation in total…”

Fact: He issued a blizzard of largely pro-business, racist, Islamophobic executive orders - no significant legislative achievement so far.

Trump: “We’ve canceled restrictions on the production of oil, natural gas and clean coal.”

Fact: He abandoned environmental safety for maximum industry profits. No “clean coal” exists - nor any other clean fossil or nuclear power source.

Fact: Renewable clean, green energy alone is the future - if humanity survives to enjoy it.

Trump: “What we’ve accomplished on immigration and criminal enforcement is nothing short of historic.”

Fact: He’s waging war on immigrants of color and Muslims. He’s made America more of a police state than already.

Trump: “(T)he first duty of government is to protect American citizens.”

Fact: In his first 100 days alone, he inflicted enormous harm on America’s most vulnerable - offering a bonanza for its rich and powerful.

Trump: “The Defense Department has begun to rebuild and restore our military readiness. We’ve reasserted American leadership by holding the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria accountable for its monstrous use of banned chemical weapons against helpless, innocent civilians.”

Fact: We wants tens of billions more dollars spent on militarism and warmaking at a time America’s only enemies are ones in invents.

Fact: No evidence suggests Assad used CWs any time during over six years of US proxy war, using ISIS and other terrorists as imperial foot soldiers - aided by Pentagon terror-bombing of vital infrastructure and government targets, massacring civilians.

Trump: We “restor(ed) our credibility with our friends and our deterrence with our foes.”

Fact: His rage for endless wars, possibly ahead with nuclear weapons, is humanity’s greatest threat.

Trump: “I delivered on one of my biggest promises, appointing and confirming a new justice to the Supreme Court who will be faithful to the US Constitution.”

Fact: Justice Neil Gorsuch is a right-wing extremist, Senate voting rules changed to confirm him.

Trump: “Thousands of new jobs are being re-shored back to America…”

Fact: Jobs creation remains largely low-pay, poor-or-no benefit service ones. Nearly one fourth of working age Americans are unemployed, most others way underemployed. The nation’s only growth industry is poverty.

Trump: “We are proving that Buy and Hire American isn’t just a slogan…”

Fact: It’s a fabricated hoax. He’s making America great for its wealthy, powerful and privileged alone.

Trump: “The White House is once again the People’s House. And I will do everything in my power to be the People’s President - to faithfully, loyally and proudly champion the incredible citizens who love this nation and who call this God-blessed land their home.”

Fact: Throughout US history, the White House was never the people’s house - nor Congress, the courts or other institutions of government.

America is run by the people who own and control it - governance of, by and for its privileged few exclusively.

Trump v. FDR's First Hundred Days

Trump v. FDR’s First Hundred Days

by Stephen Lendman

On Friday, Trump ludicrously called his first 100 days “the most successful in our country’s history.” Arguably, they’re the worst.

Truth-telling isn’t his long suit. He’s best known for bluster, bombast, demagoguery, and turning truth on its head, along with breaking every positive promise made.

His deplorable first 100 days suggest more of the same, likely worse coming. He sold out to Wall Street, war-profiteers, Big Oil, Big Pharma, insurance giants, and other corporate favorites at the expense of serving ordinary Americans equitably. He's part of the swamp he pledged to drain.

He reneged on combating terrorism, curtailing support for NATO, curbing reckless interventionism, waging peace instead of war, improving ties with Russia, and making trade deals worker-friendly.

His Secretary of State promised forever sanctions on Moscow unless it sacrifices its sovereign Crimean territory and ceases aggression it’s not committing.

He recklessly threatened North Korea and Iran, risking nuclear war in the East Pacific and Middle East. He one-sidedly supports Israeli ruthlessness, ignores fundamental Palestinian rights, and wants America’s embassy illegally moved to Jerusalem - an international city no other country recognizes as Israel’s capital.

He supports nuclear madness - “greatly strengthen(ing) and expand(ing) (America’s) nuclear capability” at a time its only enemies are ones it invents.

He rejects the 2010 New START Treaty with Russia, capping deployed nuclear warheads by both countries, calling it “a bad deal for the United States.”

The only way to prevent almost certain eventual nuclear war is by eliminating these devastating weapons entirely.

Since Bush/Cheney’s 2001 Nuclear Posture Review, Washington asserted the preemptive right to unilaterally declare and wage future wars, using first strike nuclear weapons - including against non-nuclear states, madness if launched.

Trump opposes a woman’s right to choose, supports repealing and replacing Obamacare with something much worse, yet to be agreed on by Republican lawmakers - while wanting tens of billions more dollars for militarism and warmaking, along with a tax cut bonanza giveaway for privileged monied interests.

He wants America’s southern border walled in from Latino immigrants, as well as unwanted Muslims from designated countries kept out.

He believes anything government can do, business does better so let it, facilitating it with deregulatory madness for maximum profit-making.

With Senate rules changed to prohibit a Democrat filibuster, invoking the so-called “nuclear option,” he got right-wing extremist Neil Gorsuch confirmed as the High Court’s newest justice.

He wants federal funding ended for sanctuary cities, protecting undocumented immigrants from mass arrests, detentions and deportations.

He continues waging war on whistleblowers exposing government wrongdoing, including wanting WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange arrested for exercising his right of free expression.

It’s unclear if he’ll impose sweeping taxes on imports from designated countries to help fund tax cuts for the rich and his Mexico border wall.

He appointed a rogue’s gallery of anti-consumer, anti-peace, anti-equity and justice administration officials - notably hawkish generals, billionaires and Wall Street figures, filling the swamp more deeply he pledged to drain.

He signed executive orders enforcing police state harshness. He imposed new illegal sanctions on Iran and Syria for fabricated reasons.

He held White House and Mar-a-Lago meetings with notorious despots. He betrayed the public trust in his first 100 days.

FDR’s comparable period was polar opposite. His New Deal didn’t end the Great Depression, but gave people most in need hope.

Landmark laws were enacted, including the Bank Act of 1933 - Glass-Steagall, insuring deposits up to $5,000 and separating commercial from investment banks and insurance companies, among other provisions to curb speculation.

The Homeowners Refinancing Act stopped most foreclosures, preventing the loss of over a million homes.

The Emergency Conservation Work Act put unemployed people to work building roads, bridges, dams, state parks and various other projects. It was Roosevelt’s favorite initiative, unaddressed today at a time of rampant unemployment, suppressed by phony government reports.

The Civil Works Administration, Works Progress Administration and Public Works Administration created millions of full and part-time jobs.

Roosevelt called the National Recovery Administration “the most important and far-reaching (measure) ever” established in America - an initiative to revive economic growth, encourage collective bargaining, set maximum work hours, minimum wages, at times prices, and forbid child labor in industry.

The Tennessee Valley Authority provided navigation, flood control, electricity generation, economic development, and promoted agriculture in the depression-impacted Tennessee Valley area, covering most of Tennessee as well as parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia.

The Agricultural Adjustment Act restricted production by paying farmers to reduce or destroy crops and livestock - a plan to raise prices at the worst time, when people were impoverished and hungry.

The Farm Credit Act let farmers refinance mortgages over an extended period at below-market rates. The Emergency Farm Mortgage Act provided refinancing for farmers facing foreclosure.

Despite its flaws and failures, New Deal measures helped millions of desperate Americans in need. Post-100 days included the Wagner Act, letting labor bargain collectively on equal terms with management for the first time.

The Social Security Act to this day remains the most important federal program helping retirees and other eligible recipients financially.

Other social legislation throughout the decade helped millions of Americans in need - polar opposite bipartisan anti-populist policies today.

Militarism, corporate favoritism and the greatest ever wealth transfer from most people to its privileged few reflects how America is now run.

Trump continues dirty business as usual, serving wealth, power and privilege exclusively at the expense of most others - while waging endless war on humanity at home and abroad.

Le Pen Is Right About Disastrous Euro Policy

Le Pen Is Right About Disastrous Euro Policy

by Stephen Lendman

Campaigning ahead of next Sunday’s French presidential runoff, Le Pen pronounced the euro currency “dead,” saying:

“We need to control the currency, to adjust it to the economy, because today the single currency is a burden.” It benefits “big companies engaged in international trade.”

It gives Brussels control over French monetary and fiscal policies, harming national sovereignty.

Le Pen wants it restored, intending to hold a national referendum to let voters decide up or down on leaving the EU and NATO if elected.

Emmanuel Macron remains heavily favored to defeat her. Western politicians and media scoundrels one-sidedly support him - wanting no change in dirty business as usual, including  France remaining part of the malignant euro monetary union.

It combines hugely dissimilar countries under a binding monetary/fiscal system. Troubled Eurozone members face a downward economic/financial spiral, at some point risking sovereign debt default.

Greece is already bankrupt, a zombie economy. Euro straightjacket rules destroyed it. Other troubled Eurozone countries face similar problems, worsened by austerity and heavy debt.

The system is doomed to fail, a hairbrained scheme, fraudulently engineered to look workable. The effects of the 2008 financial crisis linger.

In economist/Eurosceptic Bernard Connolly’s 2008 report titled “Europe - Driver or Driven,” he explained “a global Ponzi game,” responsible for economic crisis conditions.

“Monetary union means greater economic instability,” he said. Europe wants “global issues as excuses to extend its power (and) control over member countries,” Germany the dominant player.

“Manufactured terrorism is a pretext for police state practices, abandoning democratic values and rule of law principles. European monetary union (EMU) is hugely destructive, “the biggest credit bubble of them all,” doomed to burst, said Connelly.

Economies are kept afloat by near-zero interest rates and money printing madness. Greece is the future for weak Eurozone countries.

The late Bob Chapman said failed economic/financial policies only buy time. Europe’s (euro) experiment is “an abject failure.” Ahead is “the end of the period that developed” post-WW II.

In America and Europe, predatory banking giants are running economies into the ground. Inevitable crisis awaits. Hairbrained economic/financial policies assure it.

Le Pen wants France freed from Eurozone tyranny and trouble. Macron’s huge lead in polls, along with French aristocracy and media scoundrels strongly against her, leaves little chance for her triumphing next Sunday.

Trump Is Right About Major Media Fake News

Trump Is Right About Major Media Fake News

by Stephen Lendman

Deplorable media scoundrels deliver all fake news, all the time, on domestic and geopolitical issues mattering most.

Especially in times of war like now, journalism the way it should be is the first casualty - truth-telling considered anathema. Disinformation and Big Lies substitute.

So-called television news is an abomination, an embarrassment to air, carpet-bombing viewers with pure rubbish - deplorable hosts, reporters and commentators suppressing what’s most important to explain.

What The NYT calls fit to print isn’t fit to read. The neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post’s new motto “Democracy Dies in Darkness” belies its daily deluge of garbage - state-sponsored propaganda, not credible reporting.

Media scoundrels serve powerful special interests, betraying their readers and viewers, a disgrace to a profession practiced only by independent journalists - beholden solely to truth-telling, especially on vital issues.

Early in his tenure, Trump is a failed president, a war criminal, a Wall Street-led corporate/imperial tool - betraying the public trust, waging war on humanity at home and abroad, his recklessness risking possible nuclear war.

Give him credit for one thing, his scoundrel media bashing, again on Saturday in Harrisburg, PA, commemorating his first 100 days in office, addressing supporters.

He bashed “the failing New York Times,” CNN and MSNBC, accusing them of incompetence and dishonesty.

“Their priorities are not my priorities, and not your priorities,” he bellowed. “If the media’s job is to be honest and tell the truth, the media deserves a very, very big fat failing grade,” adding they’re “very dishonest people.”

“(T)ake the totally failing New York Times. Pretty soon they’ll only be on the Internet, the paper’s getting smaller and smaller…look(ing) like a comic book.”

He’s right on this issue, wrong on most everything else of importance to ordinary Americans, especially the poor, disadvantaged and people of color.

He skipped the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner to be in Harrisburg, saying:

“As you may know, there’s another big gathering taking place tonight in Washington D.C. Did you hear about it?”

“A large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media are consoling each other in a hotel ballroom in our nation’s capital right now. They are gathered together for the White House Correspondent’s Dinner - without the president…very boring.”

While Trump bashed media addressing supporters, his hugely destructive agenda continues at home and abroad.

Instead of serving all Americans equitably, he’s beholden only to privileged ones. Instead of waging peace, he’s at war in multiple theaters against nations threatening no one.

In his first 100 days, he disgraced the office he holds - a corporate-imperial tool against peace, equity, justice and democratic freedoms - everyone everywhere deserves.

Fake News About Russia Sending Weapons to Taliban

Fake News About Russia Sending Weapons to Taliban

by Stephen Lendman

It would be fitting justice if the report was true.

Taliban roots go back to CIA-recruited, armed and supported Mujahideen fighters against Afghanistan’s Soviet occupiers in the 1980s.

Ronald Reagan called them “the moral equivalent of our founding fathers.” Today, they’re one of America’s mortal enemies.

Yesterday’s Mujahideen are now Taliban fighters, combating illegal US war and occupation of their country.

America’s longest war continues endlessly. According to the neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post, instead of ending what can’t be won, hundreds of US marines were deployed to Afghanistan’s Helmand province.

Many may return in body bags. Claiming their mission is training and other assistance belies the real purpose behind all US troop deployments to war zones - to participate directly or indirectly in fighting.

Taliban elements control most of Helmand province, along with much of the rest of the country. America’s longest war is a lost cause. US occupation one day will end because combating it will continue until the scourge of America’s presence is gone.

General John Nicholson Jr. heads US Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A). He lied claiming “(w)e continue to get reports of” Russia supplying Taliban fighters with weapons.

“We support anyone who wants to help us advance the reconciliation process, but anyone who arms belligerents who perpetuate attacks like the one we saw two days ago in Mazar-i-Sharif is not the best way forward to a peaceful reconciliation.”

Fact: No evidence suggests Russian military involvement in Afghanistan - directly or indirectly.

Fact: The country is one of many victimized by US naked aggression - continuing since October 2001, less than a month post-9/11, war planned months in advance of the mother of all false flags.

Fact: America wants endless war, not “peaceful reconciliation” - an anathema notion to US warmakers and war-profiteers.

WaPo: “A senior US military official said the Russians have increased their supply of equipment and small arms to the Taliban over the past 18 months…including medium and heavy machine guns…under the guise (of) fight(ing) ISIS…”

Fact: The anonymous “senior US military official” provided no evidence supporting his baseless claim because none exists.

WaPo quoted Defense Secretary Mattis, saying “(a)ny weapons being funneled here from a foreign country would be a violation of international law unless they were coming to the Government of Afghanistan” - adding, the issue “would have to be dealt with…”

Fact: Weapons “funneled” to and used by America in Afghanistan and all its other war theaters are major “violation(s) of international law.” Mattis failed to explain.

In March, NATO commander US General Curtis Scaparrotti lied, claiming Moscow supports Taliban fighters. Russia’s Foreign Ministry dismissed the baseless allegation - saying it was made to provide cover for America’s lost war.

Nicholson and CENTOM head General Joseph Votel want thousands more US troops deployed to Afghanistan - for endless war, a lost cause, not with any hope for breaking what they call a “stalemate.”

Le Pen's Pro-Palestinian PM Choice

Le Pen’s Pro-Palestinian PM Choice

by Stephen Lendman

Ahead of the May 7 French presidential runoff, Marine Le Pen chose defeated Debout la France (Arise France) presidential candidate Nicolas Dupont-Aignan as her prime minister if elected.

He’s ideologically right-wing like herself. With him at a Saturday news conference, she said “(w)e will form a government of national unity that brings together people chosen for their competence and their love of France.”

Both support abandoning the euro, what Dupont-Aignan called a “racket,” and restoring the franc as France’s currency, regaining control over its monetary and fiscal policies from Brussels.

Former UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage called him an “utterly respectable Eurosceptic.” Dupont-Aignan said “I am and remain a free man. I have dared before history to build a government agreement.”

Unlike establishment figures throughout Europe and America, Dupont-Aignan is pro-Palestinian.

In July 2014, during Israeli aggression on Gaza, Dupont-Aignan said the following:

“Gaza: Nicolas Dupont-Aignan deplores the inertia of France in the conflict”

“After the bombing, ground fighting and unacceptable collateral damage of the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians, men, women and children, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict entered last night in a new phase with the invasion of the gang Of Gaza by the Israeli army (with) complicit silence of the UN, the West and France. The disproportion of the forces involved is blatant.”

“Whatever the responsibilities of the irresponsible leaders of Hamas in the outbreak of this new confrontation, the path chosen by Israel only pushes it into an impasse.”

“It is not by accumulating the ruins and the dead that Mr. Netanyahu will appease the tensions, passions and hatreds in this region of the world.”

“In this bloody context, the inertia of France is perfectly scandalous. We expect our government to finally take the initiative for international action to impose Israel’s compliance with UN resolutions, that is, the withdrawal and dismantling of settlements illegally settled in the territories The recognition of the Palestinian state.”

“It is only under these conditions that we will avoid importing the conflict into our country, and that the new massacre in progress will be stopped.”

“It is only under these conditions that lasting peace can finally return to the Middle East. Letting aggravate and aggravate an unbearable situation is not only stupid but criminal.”

Fact: On July 8, 2014, Israel launched premeditated aggression on Gaza. Hamas had nothing to do with initiating it - planned by Israel, waged until August 26.

Thousands were killed or wounded. Defenseless civilians were willfully targeted. Entire neighborhoods were destroyed. Entire families were annihilated. Schools, hospitals, mosques and UN shelters were attacked.

So were clinics, ambulances, healthcare workers, journalists and human rights supporters. During the war, Israeli forces rampaged throughout the territories, invading over 3,000 homes, terrorizing families, traumatizing children, making mass arrests, including Palestinian parliamentarians.

Nearly three dozen were lawlessly imprisoned. Israeli aggression went way beyond attacking Hamas.

It was war on Palestine, vicious collective punishment, the highest of high crimes against peace. More Israeli aggression could happen anytime, likely worse than 2014 if launched.

Dupont-Aignan supports Palestinian self-determination. Le Pen said they share a “common project (they’ll) promote together.”

Macron backs continuity, dirty business as usual. Le Pen wants France out of US-dominated NATO and EU membership.

Macron is the choice of the “oligarchy,” she said. She wants French sovereign independence restored - free from control by Washington, Brussels and Berlin.

Trump Supports Terrorism

Trump Supports Terrorism

by Stephen Lendman

America is history’s greatest perpetrator of state-sponsored terrorism. Its so-called war on this scourge is a fabricated hoax. Its sordid record is longstanding, including:

  • genocidal war on Native Americans - continuing today against their culture and traditions;

  • enslavement of Black Africans;

  • its deplorable history of racism and Islamophobia - including mass incarceration of people of color and others most disadvantaged;

  • its aggression against numerous independent governments for regime change; and

  • support for groups like ISIS, Al Qaeda, and its Al Nusra offshoot.

Last September, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov accused the Obama administration of “de facto support for terrorism…us(ing) (it) as a weapon against Russia…show(ing) the political depths (his) administration stooped to (in) the Middle East…specifically (in) Syria.”

Candidate Trump lied, claiming he wanted ISIS smashed. As president, he’s continuing the same imperial policies as his predecessors, accelerating, instead of ending them - supporting ISIS and other terrorist groups instead halting US support and combating them.

In October, 2016, republished on April 28, Michel Chossudovsky discussed “US military aid…to Al Qaeda and ISIS-Daesh” in Syria, illicitly supplied - on the phony pretext of supporting nonexistent moderate rebels.

NATO, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, other Gulf states, Jordan and Israel are involved - supporting terrorist groups while pretending to oppose them.

Trump continues Obama’s war on Syria, elsewhere regionally and beyond - recruiting, arming, training, funding and directing anti-government terrorist groups, using them as imperial foot soldiers, wanting all independent governments replaced by pro-Western puppet ones.

In summer 2015, Iraqi lawmaker Alia Nusseif said “(w)e don’t have any trust in Americans anymore…ISIS is being used as a tool by America to divide and weaken Iraq.”

The same is true in Syria, Yemen, elsewhere regionally, and Afghanistan, including as a weapon against Russia.

On April 27, Bashar al-Assad said Trump’s policy toward Syria continues what Obama began.

He’s “doing what he is told to do by the CIA, the Pentagon and major oil companies.” His campaign promises were hollow.

He “has no policies.” US actions are “drawn by the American institutions which control the American regime which are the intelligence agencies, the Pentagon, the big arms and oil companies, and financial institutions, in addition to some other lobbies which influence American decision-making,” Assad stressed.

Like his predecessors, Trump “merely implements these policies, and the evidence is that when (he) tried to move on a different track, during and after his election campaign, he couldn’t” and didn’t.

“He came under a ferocious attack. As we have seen in the past few weeks, he changed his rhetoric completely and subjected himself to the terms of the deep American state, or the deep American regime.”

“That’s why it is unrealistic and a complete waste of time to make an assessment of the American President’s foreign policy, for he might say something, but he ultimately does what these institutions dictate to him.”

“This is not new. This has been ongoing American policy for decades…(T)he United States always seeks to control all the states of the world without exception,” Assad correctly explained.

It has interests, not allies, wanting all nations to be “American satellite(s)” - aiming to impose “hegemony on the world” by brute force.

Assad defined so-called “moderate terrorists” as anti-government fighters, committing “beheading(s) and slaughter…without carrying an Al-Qaeda (or ISIS) flag, or without saying ‘Allah Akbar.’ “

Terrorists serving US interests are called “moderate opposition” elements, “even if they commit” gruesome atrocities, Assad stressed.

Endless conflicts and instability serve US imperial interests. Media scoundrels suppress Trump’s support for terrorism.

His reckless agenda risks confrontation with Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. Possible nuclear war on his watch is humanity’s greatest threat.

Tillerson Threatens North Korea

Tillerson Threatens North Korea

by Stephen Lendman

America favors bullying over responsible diplomatic outreach, lying over truth-telling, dominance over mutual cooperation, war over peace.

Addressing Security Council members on Friday, Secretary of State Tillerson turned truth on its head, claiming years of US “well-intentioned diplomatic efforts to halt (North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile) programs have failed.”

“It is only by first dismantling them that there can be peace, stability, and economic prosperity for all of Northeast Asia.”

“With each successive detonation and missile test, North Korea pushes Northeast Asia and the world closer to instability and broader conflict.”

“The threat of a North Korean nuclear attack on Seoul, or Tokyo, is real. And it is likely only a matter of time before North Korea develops the capability to strike the US mainland.”

Fact: Washington never negotiated in good faith with North Korea since the Truman era.

Fact: America’s rage for dominance through endless wars and color revolutions threatens all sovereign independent countries.

Fact: North Korea sought nuclear and ballistic missile deterrence capabilities for defense to protect against possible US aggression.

Fact: No preemptive DPRK threat exists against any country - not America or any regional ones. Tillerson lied claiming otherwise.

Tillerson: “(F)or years,” Pyongyang “defie(d) multiple UN Security Council resolutions…(T)here is no reason to think (it) will change its behavior…”

Fact: “For years,” Washington rebuffed North Korea’s diplomatic outreach. Instead of extending recognition and welcoming it into the world community of nations, reckless US hostility persists.

Tillerson: “For too long, the international community has been reactive in addressing North Korea. Those days must come to an end.”

“Failing to act now on the most pressing security issue in the world may bring catastrophic consequences.”

'We have said this before and it bears repeating: the policy of strategic patience is over. Additional patience will only mean acceptance of a nuclear North Korea.”

Fact: America’s rage for wars and dominance is “the most pressing security issue in the world,” threatening “catastrophic consequences.”

Fact: North Korea wants nukes for defense, not offense.

Tillerson: “(T)he time has come for all of us to put pressure on North Korea to abandon its dangerous path.”

Fact: It’s time for the world community to renounce America’s war on humanity, threatening its survival.

Tillerson urged increased diplomatic and economic pressure on Pyongyang over responsible outreach.

Claiming America’s goal “is not regime change” is a bald-faced lie. So is saying US policy isn’t to “threaten North Korean people or destabilize the Asia Pacific region.

Millions of casualties, vast destruction, chaos and human misery attest to US ruthlessness. Its imperial madness threatens everyone.

As long as it exists, North Korea and other independent nations would be foolhardy to abandon whatever military deterrent they’re able to develop for self-defense. Otherwise they’re vulnerable to rape and destruction.

Tillerson’s solution is polar opposite what’s needed, wanting North Korea punished more than already - including political, economic and financial isolation, tougher sanctions, and other counterproductive measures.

He threatened war, saying “all options for responding to future provocations must remain on the table.”

Bullying won’t get Pyongyang to bend to Washington’s will. As long as it continues, catastrophic US-instigated nuclear war is possible.
